I have observed and sketched the land and coast of Suffolk for 40 years.
I think Becker’s work is a priceless record of the period of farming between the two wars.
I find his charcoal sketches particularly inspiring. With a minimum of lines he catches a moment in a labourer’s day.
I am involved with the Suffolk Punch Trust which, I hope, will one day bring back to life some of these historic farming activities.
