Concentrating on (mostly) small drawn and painted studies of the landscape and figure, I work variously with graphite, coloured pencils and oil paints. I aim for an objective and an honest depiction of time and place – feeling no need to romanticise or edit what is before me. In this regard, as I learn more about the work and life of Harry Becker, I feel that my work follows closely in his footsteps and I strive for his economy of line, value and colour.
