David Elliott

2019 statement: The scenes that inspired Becker – the movement and muscle of farm labourers and horses working the land – have long gone. In their place is a depopulated countryside furnished with tractors, pigs and dog-walkers; and pleasingly, in recent years, by the return of sheep.

But living as I do in the Vicarage which was Becker’s home a hundred years ago, I feel an inevitable connection; and the Suffolk skies and local landscape still demand to be drawn and painted.
